Edith Merten

When Edith (in the red dress) married Carl, she did so knowing the rest of her life would be spent working on Landsend Farm. With the help of her sister-in-law—who is on track to becoming a classic "old maid"—she's raising three children in addition to running the farmhouse and caring for her ailing father. Since it was a life she embraced from the outset, she has no complaints about the hard work, and no regrets about the old Airstream camper that sits unused behind the tractor shed.
